Howard Chaykin

Howard Chaykin is a comic book artist and writer. He began his career as Gil Kane’s assistant and continued on, working with Gray Morrow and Neal Adams. By the early ’70s, he was working as a freelance artist for both Marvel and DC Comics. He worked for HEAVY METAL magazine, proving to be a strong science-fiction author. This led to illustration duties on the comic adaption of the first Star Wars movie for Marvel. In 1983, he created AMERICAN FLAGG! for First Comics, the series he is best known for.

Some of Chaykin‘s recent comics work includes: the graphic novel MIGHTY LOVE, the mini-series CHALLENGERS OF THE UNKNOWN, and CITY OF TOMORROW, as well as a one-off issue of SOLO, all published by DC Comics and SATELLITE SAM published by Image Comics. Chaykin has also been active in television since the 1980s, acting as Executive Script Consultant for THE FLASH and VIPER, and was the head writer on the series MUTANT X.
