Darby Pop Publishing has had numerous up-and-coming writers and artists collaborating with us over the years. Each month, we’ll be highlighting the most recent work by one of these industry professionals who passed through our doors on the way to making their sequential storytelling dreams come true.

Darby Pop has had the pleasure of introducing many new artists to comics fans via our Breaking Into Comics contests. One of our previous runners-up, Seth Adams, is about to make a big splash with his upcoming work, Goth, and was kind enough to answer some of our questions regarding both his new series and his previous experiences.

Adams believes opportunities such as “Breaking Into Comics” are “a good way for budding artists to finish something to the best of their ability, and then submit to an existing company” for feedback. Being a massive Bruce Lee fan also helped spark Adams’ creativity, explaining that “any company that has been chosen to continue Lee’s legacy is a fun one to be associated with, even in a small way.” All of which leads us back to Goth – a series that is testing Adams’ abilities in lots of interesting ways.

Adams describes Goth as “the first in an exciting, genre-bending series of gothic one-shots” that feature Adams’ art and are scripted by the critically-acclaimed writer Paul Allor. The first one-shot concerns a young Visigoth warrior named Dolphus who finds himself spurned by his lover, Gerda. The series was pitched by Allor as “Cloud Atlas” meets Goths. “The characters (across the series) will be re-incarnations of the ones we meet in issue one, over a “Gothic” timeline,” explains Adams.
This serious problem has many ways out of the situation. Consumption of alcohol actually increases the sex fantasy but kills the actual functionality while this act. To lift heavy machinery, goods and a variety of materials in industry and related areas, using electrical chain hoists is considered the most economic and safe choice. There are a number of different medicines, all continue reading for info purchase viagra online of which claim to be the perfect solution for dysfunction and happens to be used as a natural alternative to drug treatments in the first instance.
When looking back over his output, Adams shares that he has “many artists whose work I adore, but I’m not sure how much of that shows up in the first issue.” While Goth has art that is more in service to the story than art that simply “looks cool,”, Adams offers that Andrea Sorrentino and Mark “Jock” Simpson were his biggest influences. “Their use of deep blacks and realism, while still having fantastic energy, is so impactful. In no particular order I always have Frank Miller, Ashley Wood, David Mack, Frank Frazetta, Bill Sienkiewicz, Klaus Janson, Paul Pope, Dan Panosian, Jason Shawn Alexander, Frank Frazetta, Geoff Darrow, Milo Manara, Marc Silvestri, and Hayden Sherman screaming in my mind, but I’m not sure that is always evident in my work so much as an (internal) reminder to be better.”

When Adams looks back at his time in comics thusfar, he’s pleased to have “learned just how close-knit yet widespread the community is. It’s not easy to make a living in comics; to make the choice to be in it is a choice of passion.” Adams is constantly in awe of the artists around him, and sees their passion in every piece they create. With Goth, it’s clear that Adams possesses that enviable passion, too!
